I have this weird thing with bowls. I have bowls told hold my jewelry, hair ties, knick knacks, for any kind of salsa/dip you could ever want, etc. It’s becoming a slight problem 😉 haha okay I could have much worse addictions. Right?
Archives for March 2015
Hello, hello friends! Man, I hate that it has been so quiet on the blog lately. I am at that point where an intern would make a huge difference, but I am still not sure if I am ready to hire. Ah, the challenges of working for yourself. With the increase in client work and a few life changes (more on that later), it’s been a crazy winter to say the least. I appreciate you all hanging in there! 🙂 I wanted to update you all on a couple of things:
1. I recently had a design project shot by the amazing Joyelle West and I will be able to share the photos very soon! There are a few photos I snagged with my phone in this post.
2. Remember when we put an offer on a house?! Well, they accepted another offer and we were super bummed. Like on the verge of giving up. So after another week of searching, we found another place (a better place actually) and placed an offer on it literally hours after looking at it…and they ACCEPTED!!!! I am so overwhelmed with the anxiety of this huge life change and purchase but also very excited to call this place home! We are now about to go through all of the ugly stuff … the underwriting, inspection, etc. to make sure it’s actually good to go. So fingers crossed everything else goes well! We won’t close on the home until July so we have a bit of time to prepare and get everything ready – but I will share some photos soon. Cody and I are ready to make this our last move for awhile!
Hope you all have a great week!
I have been getting really excited to share some photos of our studio, but they are doing some construction on our building and the natural light is little to none because they have a tarp covering our windows. Such a bummer because I know I have been holding out on you guys! Once they are complete (should be soon, I hope)…I promise we will share some photos!
I am still excited to show off my new art addition to our studio thanks to the lovely Elaine Meese, owner of the online shop Fields Prints. Her shop is filled with beautiful geometric and minimalist screen prints and paper goods. (These photos were taken in the entry area of our studio styled with some ceramics by Jill Rosenwald and Lawrence Mcrae.)
Elaine Meese is a design enthusiast out of Chicago that has an obsession with the art of simplicity. She’s a design consultant by day and created FIELDS Print Shop by night. FIELDS is an avenue for exploring the fundamentals of design. The prints reflect restraint and simplicity. It’s about getting back to the basics and focusing on form. FIELDS implements silk screen printing for its tangible quality and the limitations it imposes on color and rendering technique. How beautiful is that geometric gold pattern?! I also love that the print is 18×24″ – it’s such a good size for leaning on a shelf and making an impact.Do yourself a favor and check out more of her work here!

As you may know, Cody and I are in full house buying mode and placed an offer last week on a wonderful home in Boston. Sadly enough, another offer was selected over ours. The seller looked at all of the bids the day after the showing and then asked for best and final offers by the next day at 10am. We decided to go about $12,000 over asking price (not knowing what anyone else was bidding) and still were outbid. We were definitely bummed, but are looking forward to finding the right first home.
Although it’s been a little bit of an emotional roller coaster – we keep reminding ourselves it wasn’t the right place and we will find another one soon. Here’s to more open houses and finding that perfect place to call home! 🙂
Thank you all for your tips in my last post – they were much appreciated!
