wework via oh, i design blogOne of the reasons I love working for myself is that I have the opportunity to work from practically anywhere. That said, having a studio space has been such a game changer for me because when I arrive at my studio, I am in full work-mode and there are only the good distractions…like chatting with my studio-mates about projects, business tips, etc. I feel very lucky to have a space I can go anytime to create and work and feel good about leaving my work there (for the most part) :). My studio-mates and I lucked out in finding a creative and convenient space in the city at a reasonable price, but there are a few coworking spaces around the city that are perfect for startups, freelancers, small businesses, etc. A couple of weeks ago, I was so kindly invited to get a change of scenery and spend a day working from the WeWork South Station location.
wework via oh, i design blogI had a very productive day at the South Station location working from their common spaces. It was spacious, comfortable and filled with beautiful natural light and hardworking individuals. Another plus – I was right next to the free coffee and beer area (obviously I stuck to coffee)…but once 6pm rolled around, many of the members gathered around the common areas with a beer to chat and wind down after the work day.

Something that stuck out to me about the common spaces were the various options of seating – there were comfortable lounge areas for quick meetings/breaks, bar-height tables and then larger conference room-like tables for different kinds of work. From an interior design perspective, the space was on point!

Toward the end of the day, I was given a tour of the different WeWork floors and was quickly blown away by the creative and unique interior design elements in each space. I mean, did you see that floating conference table with swings above?! There was a mix of private working spaces for companies or individuals who utilize the space as their office on a daily basis, common spaces, print/mail areas and the conference rooms that you can reserve for meetings.
wework via oh, i design blogI feel really lucky to have a space to call my own, but if I was still looking – this would be right up my alley! Whether you are a startup, small business, freelancer, nonprofit – work can be really challenging and stressful and it’s places like WeWork that make putting in the long hours worth it.
