I Signed Up For A Half Marathon! What?!

May 15, 2017

Maybe it was witnessing all of the brave runners cross the finish line 3 years in a row or the excitement of Spring and being able to run outside again, but I just signed up for a half-marathon with one of my best friends, Jenny! We have been talking about it for over a year now and finally clicked the register button on the Rock n’ Roll Brooklyn Half!

Am I totally freaked out? 100%.

Have I run a half marathon before? No. But, I have run a few 5Ks, which I’m very aware is much less than a half marathon. 😉

Why am I doing this? I always played sports growing up (a little track, a little swim, but mostly softball) and it’s been too long since I’ve challenged myself physically. I used to have trainers and coaches that would make me run/workout every single day and now I am my own coach and well let’s just say, I’m pretty lenient. 😉 Now with this post going live, I have all of you to keep me accountable and my friend, Jenny. I’m also at a point where I’m learning to bring wellness into my life in many ways – beauty, eating, exercising, and overall mindfulness and I think this will be a great way to help in all areas. In addition, I am raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! It was an option when I signed up for the half-marathon and happens to be an organization I am very passionate about, especially since bringing Evie into the world. I am running with the mindset that the children who are being treated may be able to run one day alongside me thanks to St. Judes!

When is the Rock n’ Roll Half in Brooklyn? October 14th, 2017

I’d love to bring you all along with me during my training and journey into running. Perhaps you have been wanting to sign up for a half marathon as well? Let’s do it together!

Interested in helping me raise money for a terrific cause?! Click here. To thank you for your generous donation (every dollar counts!), I will be hosting a giveaway with all of my favorite wellness items. I will choose a winner right before the marathon and let me tell you, it’s going to be GOOD. Once I work out all the details, I will give you more information on how many winners, what the items are, etc.

Lastly, I would love any tips from you runners out there on gear, training, recipes, etc. Feel free to comment below or email me at hello@ohidesignblog.com! 🙂

I saw that you’re looking for a stroller recommendation on your IG – I’m a run coach for an organization called FIT4MOM. There are a lot of great options out there, but if i had to recommend just one, it would be the BOB revolution flex. it’s harder to run with a stroller no matter what, but this makes it much less dreadful. 🙂 And I’d be happy to share some other tips and tricks if you’re interested!

Thank you so much, Jessica!! I’ve received many Bob Revolution recommendations so your comment pretty much sold me. I’d love any tips and tricks you have up your sleeves if you don’t mind sharing them! You can email me if it’s easier: hello@ohidesignblog.com. Thank you!!!
